AWARDS
AWARDS
FOR YOUTH IN FOSTER CARE
The Child Welfare Fund established the annual Awards for Youth in
Foster Care in 1999 to celebrate the feisty, courageous young people
who have turned their lives around or helped others do the same.
These awards are given to help create a more positive image of foster
care youth among agency staff, youth workers and the general public.
Thirty-five youth receive cash awards between $150 and $1,000. The
prize money can be spent however the winners like, although it is
recommended that it be spent for education-related activities.
The awards are given
in June of each year and are administered by Foster Care Youth
United.

their children. Cash awards of $1,000 are provided to 15 parent
